I'm happy western animation studios now feels comfortable to be a bit more daring after the success of spider-verse. It's making me a lot more hopeful for the future of animation in the west. However, as it much as this film is inspired by spider-verse stylistically it doesn't have the same juice.
A lot of the character moments felt rushed especially with the video gamey structure and the style never feels as thematically tied to the narrative as spider-verse does
Overall tho the film makes me hopeful and I'm glad a film made for children isn't just content at being iPad slop
