I don't necessarily agree with people calling 'Smile' unoriginal, but I did find myself thinking about other films a lot throughout its runtime ("ohhh it's like It Follows!" "ohh, a The Ring throwback!!"), which, although didn't bother me, ended up breaking the immersion a few times.
