They just don’t make ‘em like they use to.
If I could pick a period of film to have started my career in, it would probably be the 70s. The freedom in filmmaking back then seemed like a dream: hardly any censorship, stories featured gritty realism, strong social commentary; there was less focus on studio control, instead films were driven by director authorship. Now? It pains me, and I’ve noticed (and felt) the shift in my almost 20 year career…
