Annihilation is lacking in many aspects, with the dialogue being the main problem for me. It was the definiton of fake deep, and it dragged me out of the story a lot of the time because absolutely no one talks like that. Most of the characters felt the same because of the dialogue, with the mellow, sappy and sort of metaphorical-ish way of speaking.
