Isle of Dogs 2018
I LOVE DOGS.
wes has done it again with stop motion. this story of a boy looking for his dog is so sweet. cameo of yoko ono is pretty cool (regardless if i like her or not). stop motion animation is a feat to conquer.
highlights: sushi sequence. opening credits. soundtrack (alexandre desplat deserves all the oscars)

Fantastic Mr. Fox 2009
one of my favorite movies of all time. super witty and clever film. stop motion films are my favs and wes’ reimagination of this story is incredible.
highlights: soundtrack (thank u alexandre desplat). warm, cozy autumn color palette. sequence with the wild wolf. waterfall sequence. father/son complex makes me cry.

THIS COULD BE ABE SAPIEN’S PREQUEL. apart from that theory, the soundtrack revived my tear ducts. michael shannon has always scared me. there’s a picture of GDT saying “i believe in cinema.” this film made me believe it too.
