I’m a big fan of all of Eggers’ work, so this was a highly anticipated film for my brother and I when we walked into the theatre. What we experienced was more than what we could have hoped for: dark, melancholy, raunchy, freakish horror. Each actor on screen contributed to the despair felt by the viewer. The Shining 1980
This was the first horror movie my parents ever showed me as a kid— so it really gave other horror movies a tough pedestal to jump up to. This film is perfect (to me). It’s the epitome of horror— your seemingly loving husband goes mad and you have no way of telling anyone or getting away from him? He’s trying to kill you and your son with an axe? There’s seemingly paranormal happenings in the hotel? Not to mention, the score is phenomenal. Sign me up, I’m sitting down for the whole thing every single time.

Interstellar 2014
Makes me cry every single time. I hadn’t watched it since it came out so I had, for some reason, forgotten how sad it was. When it came around to the scene where he watches all the backlogged video diaries that Murph sent, I was a blubbering mess and didn’t recover until the film ended. 10/10 experience for me. So sad to imagine if it was your own dad.

Girly, hilarious, but meaningful too. Saw it with my mom on release day in a theatre full of women in pink and we all laughed and cried together. I’ll never forget it.
