Maybe the best WWII film I've watched.
Haunting visuals that doesn't use holocaust imagery and the intense suffering of the people of Auschwitz to shock and horrify it's audience. Instead, it uses the implication of the horrors, showing you how close and complacent German Nazi participants were to the mass extinction of people just beyond the wall.
I don't think I've ever seen a movie about German life during WWII depicted in this way. The style of the film being…
Exactly the flavor of horror that gets under my skin the most. Atmospheric and builds an incredible sense of dread with the camera work and sound design.
You can tell that the director has a deep love of the great crime drama and horror films of the past!
The only problem I have with the movie is the ending feeling a little disjointed by how much exposition they did at the end explaining how the dolls work. Otherwise my ass was clenched and I think the movie is at it's strongest when they focus on intimate scenes between character seeing/doing/saying Odd Shit.
