  If you walked out of this movie and the only thing you had to say was “not scary,” you missed the entire point. No, this movie isn’t scary, but uses horror elements to express a genuine concept of abuse and life. It is artful and not literal. If you didn’t get it, watch it again, and not try to watch it as a horror.  If you didn’t get it the second time, you might want to fix your brain. You don’t have to like it, but recognize that this movie is about message and analogy, not about spook factor.
