I'm so incredibly disappointed in this film. Partly my own fault for letting the hype get to me, but I spent half the year wondering about this and how "shocking" it was, particularly one specific moment... and I was not shocked. Maybe y'all need to watch more horror films so these "elevated horror" films aren't put on a pedestal they clearly don't deserve.

The world is a gloomy, desolate cityscape in a realm of eternal rainfall. A sense of melancholy creeps in as the rain pours onto the Gothic architecture and streetlights. What this world brought to mind was Burmecia from Final Fantasy IX, and the choral music score simply amplified that for me. The artwork was done by Yoshitaka Amano, who is responsible for the gorgeous look of Final Fantasy VI, so that just makes me smile.

I did not know what to expect when putting on this film. I just wanted a fun night of slashers and banter. That did not go as planned, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Tourists become stranded during a storm on this deserted island, and immediately you soak in this environment of grimy, dilapidated villas in this vacant ghost town.
