This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Yes, Hal is great, and everything that is everything has been said about the visuals and use of the classical score. The ominous zoom-in on Hal when the astronauts thought he couldn't hear them was great and a highlight of the film - definitely the writing and editing peak. But other than that, Kubrick hides the story with surrealism not because he should, but because he can. It comes across as standoffish, and perhaps even arrogant.

-Good soundtrack.
-The story could have gone somewhere.
-The CGI was maybe bad at one part.
-Some cleverness in some humor that was wasted with poor delivery.
-To avoid spoilers, the sunset scene near the end was amazing in about every way.

-Blurry, hard-to-see fight scenes.
