Could have definitely used a bit of subtlety but it's a compelling movie nonetheless with an amazing performance by Kieran Culkin.

Megalopolis 2024
Well, this was far less weird than people made me believe it would be.
At times almost resembling a tragedy play, Megalopolis has some interesting ideas, and the paralles between today's late-capitalist society (specifically the US) and the Roman Empire are sometimes presented in clever and artistically amusing ways. Unfortunately, though, it often stumbles on its own intentions, going for corny visual choices (the exhausted statues are emblematic of this) or stoner-y pseudo-philosophical tirades.
