The plot is dumb and cruel for no reason. It‘s not as deep as it pretends to be. The supposed reference to greek tragedy is misplaced and pretentious. This is kind of like Funny Games but without the self-awareness. Cast, soundtrack and cinematography are good, though. It is a Lanthimos film after all.

Queer 2024
Marvelous adaptation of Burroughs‘ novel that enhances the source material through atmosphere and fantastic performances. You can really tell what admiration and respect Guadagnino has not only for the novel but also Burroughs‘ life and work. As a fan myself this is up there with Cronenberg‘s adaptation of Naked Lunch. Also, Trent Reznor and Atticus, Ross, once again, deliver a beautiful soundtrack.
