sitting, bored, waiting for a medical procedure (yippee), and thinking... the thing about any discourse surrounding this movie (which obviously is slight in the grand scheme of anora discussion) is that... i simply do not agree!
1. "anora has no backstory or character motivations" ... does she need a backstory? genuinely. why do we require this from her. we feel for her with or without it, because it's unrelated to her current whirlwind of a situation, and we aren't entirelyβ¦

Satan/Devil centered film 1/3What a fun film to kick off Hooptober with! Equally funny and deranged with some sumptuous cinematography thrown in the mix. Was very into the 90s metal Satanic occult imagery. The earnest way Angel carried out his various evil deeds was so weirdly endearing. I enjoyed it a lot! Hopefully I will actually complete Hooptober this year (lol)
Also, Amazon tried to autoplay The Chosen after this movie.

So like, this is a hard fucking movie to watch, guaranteed to make you feel like you were crushed by a steamroller for the rest of the week. I was so excited to revisit it even though I knew it would destroy me AGAIN, and it did. Gregg Araki does not hold back. The whole movie feels like a stifled scream, desperate to be let out. And it's perfect.
Nowadays, there seems to be an oversaturation of film "about trauma",β¦
