Super alt, with weird and fucking gross humor (so much shit being sprayed and swam in?!) I specifically loved the ending dialogue and soundtrack. It def gave Euphoria a run for its money in terms of glorifying drugs, bc they made heroin look hella fun.

I just don’t think I like the genre of ealing comedies? I can appreciate how the viewing of this from a modern lens can make a point, but I prefer satire that’s presented differently. This feels too filled with archetypes and stock characters that the commentary gets lost.

A Fantastic Woman 2017
I was reminded of this movie with all the Emilia Perez discussion. The symbolism of her reflection is so interesting throughout the film, and the ending is empowering, not a trauma-filled experience like most queer stories. Beautifully done, and a great watch even if you don’t speak Spanish. Most of the subtitles are pretty good, and I think it’s good for everyone to watch more international films.
