This is such a strange film. I kept expecting it to be good because of Close and Adams but it really wasn't. Just got a sense that nobody felt very comfortable. It's weird to see a challenging life portrayed without much understanding of humanity. Empty and vacuous, Amy Adams' character particularly was so badly drawn and she is a real person so no excuse!! No insight or even empathy, she just seemed a burden...I could go on. Have to admit it's difficult not to be swayed by the unlikeability of Vance himself, I hold my hands up to that but still a very poor film

This film breaks a lot of rules. At first you are carried along on a dopamine fuelled ride with risk around every speedily taken corner. The sense of dread is building but you're telling yourself it's all going to be okay, surely they wouldn't... well they do, and not in the way I was expecting. Turns out this director is not going to make any concessions. But while you're reeling from the trauma and thinking that a film does not…

Such a beautifully made film, simple story cleverly told. The rural Indian locations were stunning but it was the playful funny dialogue that I really enjoyed, especially as it was mostly underplayed. Best of all was the range of female characters and experience and the big heart.

Drawn in by Colin Farrell's performance which was engaging, endearing and frustrating by turns. Such an intriguing premise and made me think about village life and the relationships of people who are randomly thrown together by location of birth and yet become the most important people in each others life even though their interests and passions may be wildly different. Thought-provoking and very funny.
