i'm not remotely well-versed enough in documentary styles, theory, etc. to be able to articulate this clearly or put it in proper context, but there's something about so thoroughly trying to pretend the camera isn't there while also constantly staging these very fastidious compositions and pithy exchanges that rubs me the wrong way. like idk, it just feels disingenuous, like real people are being posed for us like dolls.
