There was definitely a phenomenal film left on the cutting room floor. That isn’t to say there were some hilarious moments, some didactic, cultural commentary, some cute creatures, and an amazing performance by Robert Pattinson.

But overall, it felt slapdash, disjointed, and like it was for movies trying to be one.

Might need to see it again, but disappointed.

As a fan of the short story this was a blast. Not quite a black comedy not quite a horror - maybe a slasher comedy?

Great pace, self aware, hilariously awful deaths. While there were some Sun-par script choices in the third act overall this was a fun theatre romp.

    Don’t turn the key.

Too raw, will expand later. Beautiful. Tragic. True.

    Update:
RaMell Ross’s Nickel Boys isn’t just a film; it’s an experience that lingers long after the credits roll. Adapted from Colson Whitehead’s novel, it immerses us in the world of Elwood and Turner—two Black boys trapped in the brutal, unforgiving system of Nickel Academy. The film’s nonlinear storytelling and striking cinematography by Jomo Fray create an almost dreamlike contrast between beauty and horror, making every moment feel raw and intimate. Ross…
