I’m glad Bong had fun. But outside of Pattinson killing it as always I have a lot of qualms here. I don’t think Ruffalo and Colette work, and the third act’s pacing choices left me checking my watch. Characters seemed to behave differently from scene to scene, background characters seemed nebulous and even blended together for me. A lot of “what’s the point?” characters, scenes, conversations.

TL;DR - A classic for a reason. Maybe the all time whiplash tone change.
Good:
- Man, the breadcrumbs throughout the rom com portions of this all-time terrible date movie. It’s a masterclass in building up a sense of “WTF” until you get to that sequence.
- Fantastic performances universally
- Beautiful to look at, what with the cool cinematography changes that happen about 90m in. Colorful, creatively blocked.
- Awesome carnage. No two ways about it.
Bad:
- I think you could shorten this by 15 minutes, but that’s minor and barely there. This movie is awesome.
