“The heavens make us die, not from wars or anything else“
This is one of the most riveting, terrifyingly realistic, and thematically rich films I’ve ever watched. Blurring the lines between love, passion, betrayal, symbolism, this is where art becomes life and life becomes art. From the opener’s imagery I knew this film would cut through me but wow are their squirmish moments.
It’s one of those films where you feel like you’re peering through a window; the presence of a cameraman seems unconceivable. Viewer discretion is advised. A must watch for Chinese cinema.
