first hour and a half is great 5-stars, nonstop entertainment with hilarity and intrigue, good acting and intensely silly psychotic visuals . The exact moment that the duke announces his intention to kill ewan mcgregor i realized the plot was gonna fall totally flat on its ass. Doesnt leave you feeling a coherent sense of anything but saccharine and grief, but it is a finely crafted visual entertainment experience incomparable to anything else i can think of in its dorky splendor. however the tonal incongruity is frustrating.

The Men Who Stare at Goats 2009
there is dissonance in the narrative and aloofness with direction... funny pacing and quaint scenes, but never amounts to substantiality.. its like im looking at a bare skeleton of unfleshed narrative, it is impressionistic, but structure, resolve, and commitment are lacking; interesting transitions and flow of dialogue. admirable enough but didnt land the right tone for me being a spoof about war, thought provoking still even though its trying too hard to be that. i need a resounding ending to a whimsical or abstract narrative or it ends up feeling tacky and unfinished
