My heart broke when Joan Chen said, "Sometimes...it's hard". Didi made me cringe (at myself), in the way that it depicted a version of me in the late 2000s, with all the insecurities of a teenager, and that deep ache of not knowing who I was, or what I wanted for myself. Looks like kids in Fremont are pretty much the same as kids in Kolkata. A beautiful, poignant, resonant film, lightened by seeing oneself through someone else's life. And someone get Izaac Wang in more movies, PRONTO!

The Iron Claw 2023
Zac Efron, in what might be his career's most striking performance. Every cast member shone, but Maura Tierney's controlled and terse emotional staccato, Harris Dickinson's vulnerable yet gregarious David, and a subtle turn by Stanley Simons as the shy, youngest von Erich, held together a tragedy akin to that of the House of Atreus.
I didn't expect a movie about wrestling in 1980s Texas to make me cry, but it broke me.
