The Matrix Resurrections 2021
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The first act is awful and eye-roll inducing.
The dialogue is not good to the point of being insulting.
The new characters are given no proper set up, let alone a reason for me to care about them.
The stakes are never established well enough to create meaningful tension.
The tone is a complete jumbled mess, frequent and Joss Whedon-y levity is crammed in and immediately dates the movie with the contemporary nature of the jokes.

Slow, subtle, and methodical. This movie gives you time to breathe between the more heightened and action-centric sequences, while posing enough questions to consider during the breathers. At times it felt like it lacked meat on its bones, but I don't think that's the point of it. At the core, this is a film about how we should value the things close to us, and I think it communicates that message very effectively.
