Moonrise Kingdom 2012
My first introduction to Wes Anderson's live-action works was heartfelt, warming, and thoughtful. Moonrise Kingdom is a very short film but makes excellent use of every minute, with no unnecessary scenes or throwaway dialogue.
I loved the developing relationship between the two leads; a young relationship developed across the film with witty comedy used to convey the absurdness of a marriage at 12 years old.
It can't be argued that Wes Anderson's cinematography is timeless and it still holds a significant charm even 11 years after Moonrise Kingdom's release. I'm thoroughly looking forward to Asteroid City.
