Poor Things 2023
Emma Stone does a fantastic job of playing an independent but naive girl who gradually shifts into womanhood after she is exposed to more of the world in a way that feels real and genuine despite the fantastical elements of the story. By all accounts, very well written, but for better and worse feels like a Victorian novel (very well realised but with no heightened senses of urgency although all events are linked through cause and effect in the story).…

The Creator is, without a doubt, one of the science fiction films ever made. Child survival road trip type films are by no means new, but the charisma and surprising emotional depth of leading man John David Washington's performance ensures the film doesn't become dull.

Sisu 2022
An unapologetically gritty but incredibly entertaining war film with just the right amount of plot armour and unrealistic scenarios to ensure a fun watch. Every element, from the tight 90 minute runtime and splattery visual effects, to the excellent performances of the killing machine Aatami and the Nazi soldiers out to kill him, combines to make Sisu a modern action classic.
