50% wonderful playful funny inventive sci-fi and 50% shameless dumbed-down humourless boring political satire.
It literally takes such a 180 halfway in, I refuse to believe the great Bong Joon Ho made much of the creative decisions for the rest of the movie.
There is no way such a propulsive/electric piece of FUNNY science-fiction just happens to turn into a boring directionless mess without studio interference.
Not only the pacing becomes muddled, but the entire style changes, or, I’d say, vanishes.
Looking forward to eventually hear what went on behind the scenes of making this butchered monster.

“Blade Runner 2049” meets “A.I. : Artificial Intelligence” , but Robert Rodriguez is no Villeneuve or Spielberg.
Some of the special effects are really impressive , especially the main character, while a lot of it simply looks cartoonish.
Some enjoyable action sequences but it’s still just a YA/kids movie with most of its potential completely wasted.
They also try to cram way too much story into its 2 hour runtime, not enough time to really care what happens to most characters.

    Well, fuck me sideways!

Retro-futuristic art-house experimental cynical fable about a crumbling society.
Filmmaking so terrible, I needed quite some alcohol to get through it.
Coppola certainly made a touching movie - it had me swearing at my TV all throughout the third act.
     Pure garbage.

    Simply a great accomplishment.
Beautiful animation, like a moving Moebius artwork.
An alien planet that truly feels alien.
Probably my favourite soundtrack of last year.
Probably the best sci-fi I’ve seen in a long time.
