Vibed with this hard, through and through. Narratively bold and just so stylistically boisterous; Audiard makes a divisive artistic decision integral to the film’s identity that, personally, I devoured. To stand out in the titanic genre of crime drama—chockfull of masterpieces since its inception—is a tall order. Here, we have a story I haven’t seen told, in a way I’ve seldom seen expressed; its bravery alone earns my flowers. Emilia Perez is sign enough that art is continually being pushed and explored, and is alive and kicking furiously.
