great to see uncle john take a stab at the 1950’s musical craze and even better to see iggy pop gleefully noogie an unsuspecting teen.

eh say what you will, there’s something really special about a movie coming out in the 90’s that showed that you can be weird and still intelligent/caring at a time when slipknot kids were getting stuffed in lockers and protested by boomers. lillard is outrageously talented as always, young jason segel charming as ever, and fuckin james duvall!? all star cast. maybe we’re all a bunch of trendy ass posers and maybe that’s cool.

if Harmony Korine made this and not Bam Margera, you’d all be giving it 5 stars. reverse microwave is a good idea 🤷

like most things, whether or not this movie is “bad” is simply a matter of perspective. on the one hand, this movie fails to come anywhere near the standard of Burton’s legacy in Batworld. on the other hand, it also refuses to go more than 90 seconds without someone doing or saying something absolutely (pardon) batshit.

peak for me was surprisingly not Batman sliding down a brontosaurus like Fred Flintstone, but was instead Bane wearing a trench coat and fedora over his clothes while driving Ivy around. Ivy: “no more monkey business, it’s time to work.” Bane [growling] “MONKEY WOOOOOORRRK” *hard cut*
