Pure Oscar bait straight from the pond. Lib flavored shower thoughts with a wishlist of everything they could scold annoying people online with.

Emma and Ruffalo shine, the setting and costume design are both phenomenal, tasteful fisheye and use of color, loved elements of the surrealism at times but felt like it lost its purpose as the film went on.

There’s lots of nice pull quotes and nuggets of social commentary that would look good on a movie poster or inspirational screen saver but there’s not enough time dedicated to developing any of the characters.
You have Rooney Mara, Jessie Buckley, and Frances McDormand all on the bill but you barely have any time to feel invested in their roles.
