You know so much of this film was giving: the cinematography, the acting, special effects, but at the end of the day there really wasn't too much more to this film than its very obvious, flat, and trite social commentary. The metaphor at the heart of this film is so basic and one-dimensional I doubt there's any way to interpret it beyond its surface-level meaning.
