This film is an obvious parallel to Christianity and the immaculate conception, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
I cannot believe that none of the reviews online seem to see this. Even the language and dialogue with use of specific words make it even more obvious.
Margaret representing Mary, mother of Christ. David representing God and humanity. Abbie also represents humanity in a sense. Ben represents Jesus Christ.
