Annie Hall 1977
If this movie was a 10th as charming as it thought it was it would be the greatest movie ever made. Not to say I wasn’t charmed.
While it’s, at its base, it’s a series of comedic bits and melodramatic dialogue any movie held to such reductionist scrutiny (and anyone willing to levy such a critique) isn’t worth a rotten tomato’s audience score. Its merits or base rather, are its dialogue, its characters, and the grandeur and neuroses of love…

The Silence of the Lambs 1991
Try to tell me a way this film could’ve been more perfect and I know I will have found a fool.
The sheer momentum and technical efficiency, the cutting shots, the grounded performances. This would’ve been a 10 without Jodie foster, or Anthony Hopkins for that matter. But them here, on top of a bullet proof script and an ensemble (much larger and better than I remember) make this a flawless movie.

Sound of Metal 2019
Great beautiful intimate film. The performance from Riz is Oscar worthy. It’s a beautiful story gently told, but it does not hesitate to pull emotional punches when it needs to. What it gains in a heartfelt and well told story it loses in complexity of plot, which is all it keep from making a 9/10 for me. Although much closer to an 8.5 than an 8/10. All together great movie well worth watching.
