  As a fan of Godzilla since I can remember, I feel properly suited to judge these American Monsterverse movies. At its best, GxK feels like a love letter to the late 60’s and 70’s era of Toho Godzilla movies. This is mainly visible through their almost goofy moments of ungrounded technology and fight scenes with unserious choreography. I love enjoyed director Wingard’s idea of having 10-15 minutes human-less scenes for the towering Kaiju to humanize themselves with the audience. However,…

  Nolan does this thing where he hits you with a major blow or event then proceeds to have a major political thriller for the last hour. I was both completely ready and not ready at all for that. But overall, absolute perfection and perhaps my third favorite Nolan film behind Interstellar and The Dark Knight (both personal favorites).
