Devastating. An absorbing and yet heart wrenching ode to mothers everywhere. Fernanda is a gem.
Update: As the Academy Awards have come and gone, so goes my reviews until next award season. Till then, happy moviegoing!

Biopic! Biopic! Get your biopics here! Fresh off the grill! We got a biopic for ya!
This is literally alike to every biopic that ever came before. Fun story. Makes you feel good. Oh no! Our hero might be a jerk! But we like him anyway! Nothing new here.
And yet… Timothee freaking Chalamander. Damn he’s good. It’s one thing to grab a superstar for your film. It’s another thing to grab a heartthrob action star and ask him to sing. And hold us in his thrall until the movie ends. And he freakin did.
St. Augustine said, happiness is continuing to desire what we already have. This movie is decadent. It is sumptuous. It lingers and it lavishes. But mostly it is about love. Being in love, I can tell you that I am happy. Happy in love, and happy that I get to keep find truly beautiful films like this in the world. Ortolans notwithstanding.
PS - The opening scene rivals any that I’ve ever seen. Literally ever. How’s that for hyperbole?
