Love the premise. Powerful reveal at the midway point builds to a haunting climax at the crater sight. Gave me chills and a lump in my throat. For a few moments, the Japanese emo music is a little much for me, but overall beautifully animated and packs a punch. I laughed, I cried, I pondered the fragility of existence.

Thelma & Louise 1991
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Iconic. Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis have sizzling chemistry. Ridley Scott delightfully subverts the outlaw western. The ending slaps. I just wish he played it straight instead of having the freeze frame, schmaltzy music, and lifetime montage kick in. I imagine a director’s cut where you hear the catastrophic crash and then hard cut to credits. No music. Just the ambient sound of the Grand Canyon. The silence after the wreckage, letting you sit in what has happened. The immensity and finality of it.

Murders in the Zoo 1933
The most horrific part of this movie is the treatment of the animals! Wild to see the workings of a 1930’s zoo. Baby bears chained at the neck and fed bottles by visitors. Big Cats in small cages that they can’t even turn around in. Same with snakes. And then of course there is the finale where lions, tigers, jaguars, and pumas are set loose on each other, fighting to the death. On the bright side, Lionel Atwill brings the heat as a possessive creep. Makes me want to check out more of his roles.

Pet Sematary 1989
As a new parent, this film terrified me. I live off a busy street and now shudder every time a truck barrels by. No kites for my kid.
