Japanuary 2025 (Criteria: Hirokazu Kore-eda)
What a devastating film. Kore-eda is quickly becoming one of my favorite Japanese directors. Watching this so soon after watching Monster a couple weeks ago solidifies this. He has such a talent for showcasing the trials of living. This might be the most depressing film from him that I've seen so far, but it hits those emotional notes so effectively through the film's pacing.

Japanuary 2025 (Criteria: Shinya Tsukamoto)
Love the aesthetic to this film so much. The constantly moving camera provides so much energy. I've had the Shinya Tsukamoto box set from Arrow for awhile now so it's about time I watched another film besides Tetsuo and Hiruko from him. His style so far just seems so kinetic and I just adore how much this film oozes late 90s. I could easily see loving this even more on a rewatch.Translated from by

Anime Marches On 2023 (1/15)
Category: 80's (1/3)
The vibes are immaculate. Loved the visuals and music. I also love large ominous floating objects which this definitely delivered on. The animation was amazing, there were multiple points where I wanted to rewind just to watch certain animations again. The story was fine but all the other aspects were firing on all cylinders. I'm definitely thirsting for more anime like this so I might have to finally watch Magic Knight Rayearth since the vibes seem similar to me.Translated from by -
Dolls 1986
HoopTober9 (1/31)
What a great film to start this year's Hooptober. It has a wonderful blend of campiness and horror. The doll effects were really cool and the film oozes a very specific atmosphere that I really enjoyed. Some of the acting can be questionable, but it overall adds to the experience rather than hurts it.Translated from by
