This is gonna change biopics forever I think. Seriously though, the monkey thing gave the film a license to take it to such bizarre, funny, surreal and haunting places. I also think it was, while still being true to all the music biopic cliches, such a uniquely vulnerable depiction of stardom. It didn’t try to sugarcoat or justify anything - it was just an honest and messy and raw attempt at capturing what went on in RW’s head during his rise, fall, and redemption. And it was really good fun
