  Imagine going to the cinema to see Rope in 1948, running 5 mins late, missing the first few minutes and spending the rest of the film thinking it was an overrated bore fest about some people talking at a party, where the hosts have weird furniture arrangements for seemingly no reason, and everyone is a bit irate because some guy is running late.
