I was sixteen when this came out, and this is actually my first time watching it, at twenty-five, so it's not exactly part of my childhood — but, then again, my Neverland Island was never deactivated, so the “when” bit doesn't really matter.
But it doesn't matter, mostly, because Inside Out activated the most important memories and emotions an animation should bring out: it made me laugh and it (almost) made me cry. And that's what my favorite animations always…
This was surprisingly good. Not that I was expecting to be bad, I actually tried the book a month ago, don't really remember reading this one fanfic back in my directioner days, but it was a very disappointing reading, didn't even get to finish. But from the very first scenes, with all the changes they made, it turned out to be a great rom-com. A solid four stars one.
Yes, it feels like a fanfic, but, honestly, the best romcoms…
I wish I could say that the only problem here was the bad portrait of mental issues, but the truth is that the only good thing was the acting.
Richard Gere was really great on this. And, honestly, the only reason I rated it with two stars was because his performance got me to the end of it. But the true is that they completely romanticize his disorder.
Plus, the actors didn't really have much chemistry and their relationship was just... off. The development, the scenes, the "climax" at the end. I didn't like it. But, then again, the acting was good, so.
An older man/younger woman angst with Richard Gere and Winona Ryder and you guys are not rating with at least 4 stars? What's wrong with you people?
