Scarface 1983
I didn't get this film until my friend likened it to a Jacobean revenge tragedy. No real characters, no emotional connection, until the milling wheel of inevitability starts to churn in the second half and the deadening cycle takes its toll. Pacino's eyes snap out of their sharklike malaise for maybe 30 seconds to gaze upon what it was worth before the film abruptly ends.
