  I’m a sucker for an art house sci-fi, especially when it contemplates our dystopian future. The future of feelings, the future of “protecting” ourselves from unpleasantness, numbing ourselves to the point of pointlessness. Is feeling pain worse than feeling nothing at all? Major Lynch vibes mixed with minimal but exquisite production design. Magnetic performances from Léa Seydoux and George McKay. The kind of movie that has you confused yet curious for a majority of the runtime but will leave you contemplating the possibilities long after the credits (or the QR codes) roll.

  This movie far exceeded my expectations. The style was so intense and the script was so fun and action packed. The teenage goofiness gave it such a charming mood and it was genuinely funny again and again.   i went through an Altman phase a couple years ago and somehow never got to this one. But now i gotta say this is one of his best. It's a western, but not the cowboys and stagecoaches kind. It feels like the REAL west. Dirty, smelly, rude, ruthless miners trying to piece together a living in the middle of fucking nowhere.
