Mixed feelings. I always struggle with feeling convinced by a serious Antonio Banderas performance (especially when the character is pathetic anyway). Kidman’s Romy is so badly written, which is a shame in a piece that’s trying to portray a difficult topic like female masochism. Opinion unformed on the ‘Samuel’ character. Definitely mild rapey vibes but I can’t tell if his ‘confusion’ at Romy’s unreliable behaviour (how did this person ever become a CEO without being able to decide on anything)…

It’s hard to sit through three and a half hours of anything but if that dude with the guyliner and permanent crazy eyes could ride back through the Sun’s Anvil for Gasim then this was a doddle. Fully recommend, stunning film.
