  had no idea this was a remake and just thought it was just a generic mass movie. the formula is replicated pretty faithfully but with the violence turned up a bit. the result is a movie that, while entertaining, is so focused on its main character that it loses the big social message it’s trying to make.

  three things this movie absolutely gets right:
  • leo das is a bad ass
  • he can kick my sad ass
  • after a large pepsi, i do have to pee

  on a real note: leo is in fact bloody sweet. lokesh has done it yet again, making a dramatic action movie that’s over the top yet grounded in its own reality. if this is the future of mass cinema then i am absolutely here for it.

  [ shut up ]

  went to the thursday night premiere and damn i have a lot of thoughts:

  • this movie never ends. it just keeps going. a big reason for this is the unusual pacing in which the twists are delivered and the songs are intercut.
  • an ambitious idea that’s held back by rough cgi and obvious green screen shots. a lack of understanding of how hacking works doesn’t help the believability either.
