    I had a quiet, yet quite emotional, introspection on New Year's Eve at my parents' place. The whole bit felt like the good old days. My dad was playing old music when a song I recognized played loudly over the speakers. I couldn't remember the title of the song and made a mental note to look it up later. The next day, while watching this film, that very same song came on, and "House of the Rising Sun by The Animals" was displayed on the screen for a quick second. A quiet amusement curled through my mind. It's funny how sometimes you just find things.

    I celebrated New Year’s by listening to a playlist filled with various renditions of Auld Lang Syne, all while drowning in tears. I was alone in bed, the same song looping in my ears as the sound of firecrackers masked my cries. So you can imagine my fervent eagerness to feel better, even for a little while—to escape this all-consuming, suffocating sense of aloneness. I hadn’t read much about this film and assumed it would be a simple, wholesome watch. I was wrong. Terribly wrong. I felt worse.

    Pretty rough start for me, I suppose. What a beautiful film though!
