The Beautician and the Beast 1997
if you actually don’t like this movie you either, a) are pretentious no-fun-haver and therefore should kill probably yourself, or b) you’re homophobic and you should probably kill yourself, or c) are a jesse helms/newt gingrich republican, in which case — you guessed it — you should probably kill yourself!
but whatever! this is a slightly shitty ironic comedy that compiles a shit ton of (the beginning of) the Sound of Music, the Nanny, Disney’s rendition of Beauty and the Beast, and tons of other stereotypical romance movies/shows.
TLDR; this movie gives me the utz in my belly. i 🤍 shitty romcoms

The Fire Within 1963
objectively good and interesting, with some wonderful scenes - but sadly, overall, not entirely for me. it falls victim to the france effect: a script like foucault in love, meaning, a bit exaggerated, a bit self-obsessed, a bit like each character seems to hold the key to all wisdom. it’s just a sort of quirky self-confidence that i find juuuust barely too annoying. but, alas, i still enjoyed the topic and ideas enough (a lot) to think this is entirely deserving of the title ‘classic’.
