I revisit this film probably once a year. Every time I watch it I try and figure out why I love this film.
Is it the depressing visuals, the dark humor, or the display of the lengths we will go to in order to humor loved ones? Maybe because it is a reminder of the lovable frustration we've all felt towards an ageing family member. For me, it conjures memories forgotten, often mundane, but nevertheless important of those no longer…

The Wrestler 2008
This is probably my favorite Darren Aronofsky film.
Requiem and The Fountain are both up there on my list and while this film doesn't have the same spectacle or visceral shock that the former have, it surpasses them with its performances and drab realistic portrayal of a broken down lonely man ensnared by the power of the past.
