I’m starting to think that Disney is a bit oversensitive as far as their content warnings for these cartoons.
Decent enough, and has a really good climax and ending (the former of which kind of reminds me of “The Band Concert” (1935). The animation of Mickey Mouse is more stylized than usual, and kind of reminds me of Frank Tashlin’s angular design of Daffy Duck.
One of Tex Avery's greatest cartoons, and obviously one of the best horror-themed cartoons of the Golden Age of Animation. It has everything- an oversized pistol, a fourth-wall breaking corpse, a hostile Santa Claus. And on top of everything else, Avery executes one of the best gags from Frank Tashlin's "The Case of the Stuttering Pig" (1937) with even more panache.
Tom Green's absurdist comedy Freddy Got Fingered is far better than its terrible reputation, and hasn't yet received the recognition it deserves. It's quite arguably the most daring and inventive Hollywood comedy of the last 25 years, and combines the loopy absurdism of the Marx Brothers' Horse Feathers (1932) with the shocking outrageousness of John Waters' Pink Flamingos (1972).
