Somehow Robert Eggers has directed a crowd-pleaser, something almost mainstream but has managed to still keep it weird enough not to lose his directorial identity. It's a difficult line to walk but he does it. It's beautifully shot, of course.
This movie is so creepy it made my skin crawl, in no small part because of the sound design. Nosferatu himself is by far the scariest version of Dracula ever committed to screen. I'm not easily shaken by such things…
