  Everything in this movie feels so purposeful. No scene feels wasted. So much the symbolism is brilliant. Chris picking the cotton at the end, the fact a blind guy is the one to purchase Chris, the silver spoon, the separate glass of milk and the fruit loops.

  This movie has none of the sauce of the original. The original is very stylized with Romantic aesthetics. This looks like it was directed for a TV horror anthology show.

  Additionally, the commentary on gentrification is so basic. It's giving first year student in their first Black studies class. The original movie had some messy race politics. But I'll take messy over basic anyday
