A horrific medieval erotica phantasmagoria of sex and psychedelia with repeated, aggressively graphic rape scenes that pretends to be feminist at the very end. The animation is absolutely gorgeous and batshit insane, but it’s a lot of style and very little substance. The montage of the corpses dying from the plague, unnecessary violence and gratuity, and Jeanne’s gradual demise into a satanic witch are fucking nightmare fuel.
