There was one part where they had a character (one of the few Black people who were actually given lines) say the r-slur and I could not understand the point…
It felt like this movie was trying to do too much. It had a lot to say but went on to many tangents and added too many quirks to properly say it. I was glad to have watched "They Cloned Tyrone" before this one since it had similar themes but executed those themes better.

Chilling movie over what pride, whimsy, and loyalty can do when it comes to stubborn fathers and stubborn sons. Great rendition of "King Lear". The sound design was incredible, Nakadai's performance was wildly good, and the characters all had a resolution to their character arc. This was the first of Kurosawa's movie that I watched, and I look forward to watching more!
